Dr. Mohamad Jamil Akbik became a Board Certified Surgeon in 1979 and completed a Fellowship in Peripheral Vascular Surgery. Dr. Akbik began private practice in Memphis, Tennessee in 1980. In September 2013 Dr. Akbik became a member of Saint Francis Surgical Associates, which is a part of Tenet Practice Resources, a Partner of Tenet Healthcare. Dr. Akbik has operating privileges at Saint Francis Hospital Bartlett and Memphis, Delta Medical Center, and Baptist Hospital-East.

Dr. Akbik went to medical school at the University of Damascus in Damascus, Syria, he completed his residency in General Surgery in Worcester, Mass an affiliate of the University of Massachusetts, and completed a Fellowship in Peripheral Vascular Surgery in Memphis, TN. Dr. Akbik specializes in treating and caring for patients with Carotid Artery Disease and Peripheral Vascular Disease which includes poor circulation to the extremities, with special focus on limb salvage as well as treating patients in need of Fistula’s or Grafts for the administration of Dialysis. Dr. Akbik is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons since 1980 and has more than 30 years’ experience in treating vascular and carotid artery disease with more than 600 carotid endarterectomies and more than 2000 procedures on both upper and lower extremities.
