Dr. James W. Blatchford, III; Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgeon has been voted by his peers as one of the Memphis area Top Docs for the past two years. Dr. Blatchford is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Duke University (with Distinction in Chemistry) and a graduate of the Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Blatchford trained in general surgery at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he was Chief Resident and Instructor in Surgery.

He completed a fellowship in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas (Parkland Memorial Hospital).

Dr. Blatchford is a Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery; a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians; a Member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and a member of local and state medical societies. He is the author of numerous scientific papers in his specialty.

Our services include surgical disease of the heart, lungs and blood vessels. We perform coronary artery bypass surgery, valve surgery, lung surgery, chest and abdominal aneurysms (endovascular stents), peripheral vascular procedures, and others. Our expertise, caring, and quality go hand in hand to provide best care possible. We provide services to cities and rural areas surrounding Memphis as well as Eastern Arkansas and Northern Mississippi. We work closely within referring physician networks creating seamless communication for our patients. Our healthcare network includes medical assistants, nurses, physician assistants, primary care and cardiology physicians. Dr. Blatchford welcomes new patients into his office, most often by physician referral, but also self-referrals or referrals from existing patients.
