Dr. Chiu Yuen To was born in China and grew up in Hong Kong. After coming to the United States at the age of 15, he received his undergraduate education in Evangel University and Drury University in Springfield MO. He then went on to Midwestern University – Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine for his osteopathic medical degree. He completed his traditional rotating internship at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Bloomington IL, and subsequently neurological surgery residency at Michigan State University/St. John Providence Health System in Detroit MI with an enfolded endovascular neurosurgery fellowship also.
Dr. To specializes in the treatment of cerebrovascular disease using endovascular and open neurosurgical techniques, as well as various spinal conditions using minimally invasive techniques resulting in improved post-operative pain control and reduced post op stay and earlier return to work. Conditions he treats include brain aneurysms, stroke, arteriovenous malformation, carotid stenosis, carotid and vertebral artery dissection, various brain tumors, trigeminal neuralgia, spinal stenosis, disc herniations, spondylolisthesis, cervical and lumbar radiculopathy, compression fractures etc. In addition to general neurosurgical procedures, he specializes in coil embolization of brain aneurysm, pipeline embolization/flow-diversion treatment of aneurysm, mechanical thrombectomies for stroke, carotid stent placement, AVM embolization, artificial cervical disc placement and balloon kyphoplasty. Microdiscectomy, laminectomy, lumbar fusion and sacroiliac fusion can be performed using a true minimally invasive technique with tubular retraction.
